Reading a quote
A quote shows two prices: the bid (where you sell) and the ask (where you buy). The gap between them is the spread — your cost to enter. On EUR/USD a quote of 1.0850/1.0851 means a 1-pip spread. You buy at the ask, sell at the bid, so every trade starts slightly negative by the spread — which is why cost (and cashback) matters.
