Forward testing
After a positive backtest, forward-test on a demo account on live prices for weeks. This catches execution issues (spread, slippage, emotions) a backtest can't. Only after demo proves consistent, disciplined execution should you go live — and start small. ShaFX Capital competitions run on demo for exactly this reason.
