Displacement

A displacement is a sudden, large directional move that breaks structure with conviction. ICT methodology treats it as confirmation that institutional flow has shown its hand.

Optimal trade entry (OTE)

OTE is a Fibonacci-based pullback zone (typically 62–79% retracement) inside a displacement leg. The theory is to enter against the pullback in the direction of displacement.

Risk discipline

Even believers in OTE typically see 35–50% win rates. The framework only works with strict 1:2 or better R:R, hard stops above the displacement origin, and zero averaging into losers.
